Distribution: Atlantic Ocean, since the Gulf of Biscay until the a Mauritânia. Coast Occidental person of the Mediterranean. Açores, Madeira and the Canaries.
Habitat: Benthic, usually in crevices between rocks and small caves. Biology and behaviour: Up to 130 cm length. Carnivorous, these nocturnal predators have prolonged tube-like nostrils, using their developed sense of smell to hunt. IUCN Red Book category: None. |
